Anticipating the arrival of a newborn infuses excitement and happiness into the lives of those waiting. However, as life proves it inevitable, tragedy can strike, and such high emotions can come crashing down to accompany such sentiments as sadness and heartache. Such was the case two years ago when family, friends, and I were anticipating the arrival of IzzyJane. Due to unforeseen complications, the much anticipated birth of a baby girl became a moment of grief and sadness. The stillborn infant was not something that anybody expected. In no other circumstance have I experienced so much joy and excitement in one instance and then suddenly experience so much sadness. The polarizing emotions created an environment of much questioning and remorse. In such a moment having a stillborn support group would have been extremely comforting and helpful when I needed somewhere to turn to for advice on what to expect next. For this reason, the Flutterby IzzyJane Foundation has provided support for families and friends who have been affected by stillborn babies.
The FlutterBy IzzyJane foundation donates these forever bracelets as little gifts to families that have had a stillborn. These bracelets act as little reminders of the little baby that did not have a chance to experience this world. When I see these bracelets, I am reminded of my niece that has gone before us. The bracelets can also be purchased as friendship bracelets, for best friends, sisters or mother daughter bracelets, the proceeds from purchasing a bracelet provides the foundation with the ability to support more families when tragedy strikes. Having been a witness of the lasting effects of a stillbirth, being able to help the foundation grow has provide a great reward. I am constantly reminded of the fragility of life because of my experience with IzzyJane. The memory of these infants that did not experience this world should motivate us all to live life to the fullest. Stillborn support groups help families recover and get back to a normal life while remembering these little ones. This support allows all of those affected by a stillbirth to live their life to its fullest and look forward to a brighter tomorrow.
