The day to day life can sometimes get in the way of seeing the small and simplest things. It is the simple things that impact the heart the most and being able to recognize them becomes the sweetest memories.
Just over 2 years ago our little IzzyJane was Stillborn and she was laid to rest in a beautiful butterfly dress and ever since she has been our little butterfly. I remember the days no matter where we were, we would search high and low to find a butterfly flying around . Seeing one would help ease the heartache of knowing she was gone. I have always been crazy addicted to playing golf and having experienced our daughter being stillborn, the golf course became my stillborn support place. It was where I could heal my heart and take a step away from reality and be close to my IzzyJane and on countless rounds I had short visits or FlutterBy’s from her. Most recently I was playing golf at Hobble Creek Golf Course and a simple tender mercy happened during the round.. It was hole #3 and we had just tee’d off and I noticed a big butterfly fluttering by and it landed on my golf bag, as you can imagine I hurried to grab my phone to take a picture. I was very surprised as to what happened next, I didn’t have to hurry and capture the moment because the butterfly stayed on my bag, so I waited for the butterfly to spread its wings and fly away. The next thing that happened was the most memorable and why I consider it a tender mercy, I was able to touch the butterfly! When I did this the wings spread open and I was able to capture a photo of this beautiful butterfly with its wings spread.
Sometimes the small and simple things can make the biggest impressions and create the sweetest memories. As the FlutterBy IzzyJane Foundation continues to grow and spread our wings, I hope that we are able to help families that are faced with a stillbirth and they will be able to recognize and find their own tender mercies that help heal their broken hearts. Healing is a process and it takes time to figure out how to live in your new reality.
